3 Kinds of Winter Coats every girl Needs

One size doesn’t fit all. And one coat can’t get you through all life’s situations. I know many people try. One black coat for work, for the school pick up, for events.

I wouldn’t have too much of a problem with this if this one coat was well thought out; because a black parka is just not that option.

So what are the options that every girl should have? Something classic. Something fun. Something warm.

3 winter coats you need, classic winter coat, cool looking puffer coat, cute puffer, winter party coat

Classic & Neutral

This is the coat that you wear to work. It is the coat you wear to church. You wear it on the warmer winter days, or the days that you are just popping from the car to the mall.

It is the coat that looks just as good with work trousers as it does with jeans.

In fact if you were going to buy just one coat, this is it. Stick with neutrals at first and once you have a classic then you can move onto something more fun.

This is the coat you want to spend a bit more money on because a classic coat can last for a long time if you invest wisely. That said I have found great deals at end of season sales on classic pea coats at Zara and Winners.

Colourful & Embellished

If you are always wearing a parka, what do you have when you have an event? A dress doesn’t exactly go with a puffer no matter how much you try. Or stylists for that matter.

When it comes to getting dressed up to go out you need something that will make a statement. A wool coat in a bold colour, or one that has embellishment. These are coats that compliment your outfit not detract from it. These coats make your outfit better not something you want to discard as soon as you get where you are going.

Warm & Toasty

Ok so I will admit there are days when only a down parka will do. When it is minus 40 with the wind chill. When you are playing outdoors in the snow, or skiing all day. This is the coat you need for the school pick up every day especially if your little ones want to stay at the playground after school to play.

The parkas that are around now are so much better than they once were. No more puffy Michelin man, now the coats are streamlined and cut into cool shapes. Put down the parka if it makes you look like a potato, there are so many better options!

If you are shopping in Toronto you should check out my post from last year about Raindrops – they have lots of great parka options.
