Searching for; Midi Skirts

One can’t deny that there has been a resurgence if the midi skirt. A throw back to the full skirts of the 1950’s, they are utterly lady like and extremely flattering.

I already have a few options in my closet like this leather pleated one from Asos and this one in gorgeous red from 424 Fifth. But I was thinking for spring I could do with some softer colours like some of the ones in the round up below.

If you are wondering what a midi skirt is exactly just think of it as something between a mini (ie short) skirt and a maxi (full length) skirt. Generally they are at or below the knee, much like a tea length skirt which hits the calves.

1. TopShop Texture Gathered Knee Midi Skirt

2. ASOS Prom Skirt With Bow Waist

3. ASOS Premium Prom Midi Skirt In Floral Jacquard

4. Warehouse Dogtooth Skirt

5. Stripe Lace Skirt

6. Marni Checked cotton-blend jacquard skirt

7. Pink Tartan ‘Spot On’ Midi Skirt

8.  Vienna Flamingo Feather Full Skirt

9. Milly Sheer-Block Full Midi Skirt

10. Full Pleated Skirt

11. Black leather full midi skirt

To me these skirts scream PARTY! But can just as easily be dressed down for day with a statement t-shirt and leather jacket and flat sandals. They are a perfect foil to the whole crop top trend, especially if you are like me and don’t want to be showing alot of skin. Even if you aren’t going to do a crop top simply tuck in a blouse or tee to show off the full effect of the midi skirt.

I like that these skirts have a bit more weight to them because they are so full and a bit longer so that there is less likely those embarrassing moments when the wind kicks up your skirts. Plus they hid all the ills of lumpy less that perfect curves and instead define a small waist; even if you don’t have one naturally.

Gah I love this length. I used to think this would make me look shorter but really, I'm over that - I'm short! haha! I think as long as it looks proportioned it will work. I just think this length is so lady like. Too long and it's dowdy and too short is...well...less than lady like ;)

You are so right Elaine! I tend to go with lengths that are closer to the knee (on the models anyways) because they tend to work better for my height than the calf length ones. That is the great thing about midi being more than just one particular length, you can shop the style that suits you best.
