When I first moved to Toronto, Accessorize opened at the top end of Yonge & Eglinton. For me it reinvigorated my love of affordable, fun, accessories. In fact some of the items I bought there all those years ago, a beaded clutch and a pair of turquoise chandelier earrings, are still my go tos every summer and vacation.
It wasn’t until recently that I found out about Accessorize’s sister shop Monsoon. They have this wonderful boho vibe going on for so many of their pieces but also have gorgeous options for weddings. In fact perusing their spring look book I had a hard time narrowing this post down to just three items. So I didn’t, instead I styled the must have pieces with more of the Monsoon collection.
Wedding season is coming up fast and that means you will need that outfit to make it though from May to September nuptials. The above floral dress is perfect for day weddings or evening, it all depends on how you style it. Add more bling for the evening and a yellow cardigan for day. I found the shoes and thought they would also be amazing for anyone from the bride to a guest. Here I thought the pink hot pink was a great contrast to the purple florals.
If you are having a wedding this summer I highly recommend taking a browse through their lookbook. The flower girl dresses are particularly adorable. Going to a few weddings as a guest? In addition to the dress above, watch for the Marilyn Dress (gorgeous blue ombre) when it goes live as part of the new collection.
One of the things that Monsoon seems to do very well is the whole bohemian look. In fact I have a laundry list of items that I want from the new collection that haven’t launched on the website at the time I am writing this, like the Edita Embroidered Jacket, the Charleston Midi Dress and the Deepa Jacket (check them out in the Lookbook now).
Even the jewellery and the shoes have a great Indian influence. I think it is so much more authentic than what you find at Anthropologie. Even the childrens clothing has a great bohemian vibe, like this outfit for girls and this shirt for boys.
If you are heading out on vacation check out the tunics that would be perfect as a beach coverup.
I am pretty much a huge sucker for a great bohemian top, particularly when it comes to the warmer months. There are a bunch on the Monsoon website but the one I have shown above got me with its scalloped hem. Because even if you have this blouse layered under a jacket the hem will peek out making your outfit that much more perfect. In fact it would look great layered with the Charlotte Print Jacket from the Lookbook.
One of the drawbacks I find with finding an international webstore like this where I fall in love with so many things on the site is that I am usually put off by the shipping or the crazy high prices. But get this – Monsoon ships to Canada for free and the prices are fairly reasonable when compared to other boho type stores like Free People and Anthropologie. So I am sold.
What is on your Monsoon wish list?
