What I wore

One Dress Two Looks; short dress = tunic

One of the drawbacks of online shopping for items you haven’t seen in real life is they don’t alway live up to your expectations. Case in point the dress below. It is shorter than I thought it would be on me.

I fell for the print because I thought it was an autumnal take on the florals we have been seeing all spring and summer but basically the dress just covers my bum and I am too old for wardrobe malfunctions.

dress as top

So of course the first thing I thought of when I tried on this short dress was well I can still wear it as a top.

I am actually seriously considering shortening the dress into a top as I can’t see myself wearing it in dress format as it is so short. Maybe if I was thinner and had less boobs or bum I would get the extra inches I need to feel comfortable but I think I see this more as a blouse anyways.

dress as tunic

Do you alter clothing to suit your vision or would you just send something back if it wasn’t what you wanted?

I always begrudge spending the money to return an item I will wear if just tweaked a bit more to my taste.

Oh, I like that you decided to keep it and wear it as a tunic. I’ve seen in a couple of magazines that richer, darker florals will be in for fall.
I usually end up keeping stuff. It’s just so much trouble to send it back.

yes unless they provide a shipping label it is a hassel and of course they know that. I am going to cut it off and hem it up a bit so that it works better as a top because I will get so much more wear out of it that way.
